Definition: magnitude or extent
For example: A large proportion of this country is desert.
2.        chairman  /tʃ'ɛrmən/
Definition:  the officer who presides at the meetings of an organization
For example: The chairman is quite familiar with the procedure for conducting a meeting.
3.         impose  /ɪmp'oz/
Definition: compel to behave in a certain way
For example: Don’t impose your wishes on me.
4.        yield  /j'ild/
Definition: production of a certain amount
For example: The government refused to yield to the terrorists’ demands.
5.        hence  /h'ɛns/
Definition:  used to introduce a logical conclusion
For example: This is a gold ring; hence, it is expensive.
6.        prevail  /prɪv'el/
Definition: be larger in number, quantity, power, status or importance
For example: Good will prevail over evil.
7.        overall  /'ovɚ,ɔl/
Definition: work clothing consisting of denim trousers
For example: Overall, this is a nice trip.
8.        strain  /str'en/
Definition: deformation of a physical body under the action of applied forces
For example: The rope broke under the strain.

Definition: Being potent; endowed with energy adequate to a result.

Definition: Producing great physical effects.
For example: This is a very potent drug and can have unpleasant side-effects.
